Selection software

ATREA presents to the public its selection software for designing compact DUPLEX units and (industrial) kitchen ventilation. The software is currently freeware (available free of charge).

Current version of the ATREA selection software

Current version of software DUPLEX units and (industrial) kitchen ventilation
Version 9.40.394.1
Issue date 1.3.2024
Description of changes and additions readme_dup_en.rtf
Function is limited till 31.5.2024
Download (version full) adu_09_40_394_1_en.exe (EXE 196 MB)

Our selection software supports export of the selected equipment in RFA and IFC formats, including all technical information (weight, air volume, static pressure, efficiency of heat recovery, power input etc.) with active connectors for connecting all ducts and media.

Export of DUPLEX units to RFA format

The selection software supports direct export to the format Revit Family (RFA). Internet connection is necessary to create the model. Then, the model can be added to the project in Autodesk Revit, no installation of any further ad-ins is needed.

Export of DUPLEX units to IFC format

If both Autodesk Revit and our Selection software are installed on the computer, IFC import option is automatically added to Revit, also with a direct two-way connection between Selection software and Revit. If you import IFC file to Revit without Selection software installed, it’s required to install Revit add-in that provides seamless import. Please download such add-in from the link below.

Revit Add-in
Supported versions 2017-2024
Download aduforrevit_1.0.6.exe (EXE 22.5 MB)
Please send us your experiences, opinions and report any errors.

In the paragraph above, you will find the guide on export of IFC models of DUPLEX units and their import to Autodesk Revit.

The guide will make the first steps easy. Download it in pdf or as a PowerPoint presentation.

Ventilation unit design procedure

Units are designed in the following steps which correspond to the standard process used by planners when designing AHU's:

  1. Description of the steps
Entering basic identification data about the planner, customer or project name.

  2. Selecting a suitable unit in the design guide
The design guide will recommend a unit based on the required air flow rate or location (indoor, outdoor).

  3. Selecting a climatic zone
Based on the location the software will fill out temperature and outdoor air humidity data.

  4. Design
Selecting the position and configuration of the unit and the position, size and shape of outlets, and whether the unit will be supplied assembled or in parts.

  5. Operating point
    a) Required supply and exhaust air flow rate.
    b) External static pressure necessary for air transport.
    c) Fitting by-pass, circulation and shut-off dampers in the supply or exhaust duct.
    d) Exact specification of the selected filter class.
    e) Exact specification of exhaust air temperature and humidity.
    f) Adjustment of supply air temperature by adding an air heater or cooler.

  6. Built-in control system
Selecting a suitable control system from the range of available types. E.g. the RD5 control system is capable of providing remote access to the unit through the internet or from the local network.

2.

Ventilation using a system with SMART / EASY boxes

  • Central ventilation with air flow rate controllers SMART box or EASY box
  • This solution is suitable particularly ffor blocks of flats, office buildings, schools, hotels and other premises with several independently ventilated sections.

3.

Air extraction from (industrial) kitchens through ceilings or via extractor hoods

  • Calculation and design of ventilation in catering facilities off all categories (apart from household kitchens) in keeping with VDI 2052 and EN16282 standards, based on the heat and humidity generated by appliances in place.
  • Construction design of ATREA's ventilated ceilings and cooker hoods in accordance with standardized requirements

Process of designing ventilation and air conditioning systems in (industrial) kitchens

Design takes place in the following steps:

  1. Selection softwareProject being processed
Entering general identification data about the designer, client, project name.

  2. Rooms
Determining the dimensions of the room, selecting the kitchen type. Depending on the type of the kitchen the simultaneity factor is determined according to the standards. A different factor can be selected following agreement with the user / technologist. The method of ventilation is also selected at this point, either using a system of extractor hoods or a ventilation ceiling.

  3. Appliances
In order to determine the correct extraction power it is necessary to enter precise data for appliances to be installed. The software offers a choice from a database which contains both specific appliances by certain producers and general categories.

For each appliance it must be determined whether air extraction will be provided directly by an extractor hood or whether they will be placed away from cooker hoods and air will be extracted from the kitchen space. As for stand-alone appliances, their position in relation to walls is also important to determine the installation location reduction factor.

  4. Software outputs
An important additional feature of the software is its print module used to:
    • print full technical reports
    • print extractor hood or ventilated ceiling specifications
    • print extractor hood and control system data sheets
    • print wiring diagrams
    • these print outputs can also be exported in txt, rtf and doc (Microsoft WORD) formats and edited as necessary
    • Extractor hood designs can be exported from the software in DXF (AutoCAD) format, with a choice of levels and a 2D / 3D view

4.

Heating, cooling and ventilation in detached houses or flats using an air circulation unit

  • Hot-air heating and cooling units DUPLEX R5; this part includes air rate calculations based on the heat loss of the building

Software outputs

Print and export of technical specifications
The following items can be printed or exported in PDF (Acrobat), OneNote or XPS Document Writer:

    • Technical description of the unit
    • Dimensional drawing of the unit
    • Requirements for the building contractor regarding the site of installation of the unit
    • A HVAC system diagram showing the temperature and relative humidity of the air to be transported
    • A wiring diagram of the unit
    • H-x diagram
    • Parameters according to ErP (Ecodesign)

These items can also be printed as a group as part of the technical specifications.

Export in DXF
The design of the unit can be printed directly from the software in DXF (AutoCAD), with an option to select levels and 2D / 3D views.

Export in the format for BIM (Building Information Modelling)
The selection software exports selected unit in RFA and IFC formats including all technical data (weight, flow rates, static pressure, efficiency of heat recovery, power input etc.) with active connectors for connecting all pipes and utility supplies.
You will find detailed guide in the paragraph Compatibility with BIM.

Sending the project by email
Open a guide by choosing Project > Send by email. The guide makes it easy to generate an email with a file containing the design, technical specifications and data exported in formats used by subsequent contractors.

Catalog sheets

The software offers data sheets, marketing brochures and links to instructional videos for DUPLEX units for download.
